On behalf of the Board, I am pleased to provide this end of financial year report.
Fundraising
Tabitha Australia has been growing strongly year on year, with donations processed in 2007/08 increasing by nearly 60% on last financial year. Below are the annual donation totals since TFA was founded in 2002.
- 2002/03: AUD $39,259
- 2003/04: AUD $67,259
- 2004/05: AUD $162,971
- 2005/06: AUD $259,253
- 2006/07: AUD $493,624
- 2007/08: AUD $780,697
Australian Building Teams
The number of Australian building teams travelling to Cambodia increased from 20 last year to 33 this year. These teams built a total of 284 houses to accommodate approximately 2,272 Cambodians. Of these teams:
- 15 of these were school teams
- Other teams came from corporates, churches, rotaries, etc. while quite a number of individuals arranged their own teams.
Now Supporting Three Provinces
For several years Tabitha Foundation Australia has fully funded the Tabitha Cambodia operations in the southern Cambodian provinces of Kompong Som and Kampot. This funding pays the salaries for the local staff employed in those provinces, the rent of a small office, the maintenance and petrol for the motor scooters used to travel to the villages and most importantly, the 10% "bonus" paid at the end of Family Development savings cycle. Importantly, a single Australian philanthropic foundation entirely paid the start-up costs of the new Tabitha office in Battambang, a city in the northwest of Cambodia. This will allow Tabitha programs to work in several provinces previously too far from Phnom Penh to be serviced.
Family Development Program
The nunber of families on the Tabitha "Family Development through Savings Program" has increased from 28,000 to 33,000 families (now affecting 264,000 people). Over 38,000 families (240,000 people helped) have "graduated" from the program - their lives having been transformed from destitution to lower-middle class.
Wells Program
This year TFA funds paid for more than 500 wells providing clean water for 2,500 families (approximately 20,000 people)
Broadening of Support Base
In 2007-08, we have seen our support base broaden to include philanthropic foundations, companies/corporations and "high net-worth individuals".
100% of donations go to Cambodia
We remind you that Board Members are volunteers and that ALL funds raised go to Cambodia - no administration fees are withheld. The Board would like to sincerely thank all those who have given their time and/or money to support the Cambodian poor via TFA.
