May 2006 - Janne's Visit to North Sydney Boys High School (25 May 2006)

Over the past three years the students of North Sydney Boys High School have worked hard and consistently to raise money for Tabitha Foundation Australia.

At a school assembly on 25 May the President of the School Charity Committee, David Benjabutr, and the Principal, Robyn Hughes, handed over a cheque for $10,000. Janne Ritskes was there to accept the cheque personally, along with her 7-year-old daughter, Miriam.

This latest donation takes the total donations made by the school to over $35,000. The students are innovative in their fundraising methods, which include mufti days, barbecues, movie days and running the canteen at the school musical.

At the assembly Janne shared some of her experiences of working in Cambodia and we were all overwhelmed with what we learned of the situation faced by Cambodians both in the past and the difficulties they continue to face. North Sydney Boys High plans to send a group of students house-building in January 2007. After Janne's address, many more students were motivated to want to participate in this trip and to continue to contribute to the advancement of the poorest in Cambodia.
