Breaking News Oct 2009.

After 8 years of supporting Cambodia, TFA now has DGR tax accreditation in our own right.  Having received "Approved Organisation" status by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, OADGS approval of AusAID and Treasury, we are very pleased and proud to have achieved this status as testimony to our fantastic community support.

One of our primary goals is to stay connected to the community and keep our organisational overhead at zero - we are driven to deliver every cent of every dollar donated to Cambodia!

This  is a result of  The Hon Stephen Smith MP AUSTRALIAN MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS declaring Tabitha as an Approved Organisation for AusAID.

A consequence of the fantastic support that Tabitha has received over the past few years, is that managing the large number of transactions and enquiries has stretched our dedicated volunteers capacities.

To be able to deal with this growing number of donations, we needed to improve our processes.  Our new tax status, along with the redesigned web site, will allow for us to automate the donations.  From now on, all credit card donations will receive email receipts as soon as the donation is authorised.

It was also important to our major supporters that Tabitha obtained this OAGDS (Overseas Aid Gift Deduction Scheme) accreditation.   This gives our supports an even greater level of comfort that Tabitha is accountable and transparent.

This is great news and a testimony to the wonderful community support that Tabitha has experienced over many years.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding our accreditation or feedback on the new website.

Non Government Organisations

AusAID works with non-government organisations (NGOs) to maximise the impact and reach of Australian aid.

The Australian Government recognises the valuable role of non-government organisations (NGOs) and works with them to deliver around seven percent of the aid program.

Australian NGOs bring particular strengths to Australia's aid program. They mobilise public support and voluntary contributions for aid; they often have strong links with community groups in developing countries and they often work in areas where government-to-government aid is not possible.

Many also have expertise in meeting people's basic needs, particularly in emergency situations where quick and flexible responses are essential.

All Australian NGOs funded through AusAID undergo a rigorous accreditation process. This ensures that Government funds are channelled through NGOs that have strong community support and are of sufficient size and professionalism to be able to deliver aid programs overseas.
